BRINGING THE BODY HOME
As the world becomes more tech focused, I’ve wondered about my innate draw to the primitive wild in my work. Will it still be important? Will it be valuable as a form of work?
What I keep coming back to, again and again, is the fact that our own bodies, the suits that hold our spirit, are made of earth.
The further we get from earth the further we get from ourselves.
Botanical art is not just a visual meaningless extravagance - it is a feeling of home - like that moment when you walk under the canopy of a forest and all the weight lifts off.
The shapes, the scents and the electromagnetic feelings a forest facilitates in the body are my muse.
Yavanna facilitates this feeling in spaces where humans gather.
